Just take a look at how easily you can make this tasty treat with just four main ingredients and a little preparation.

What you will need for the perfect Baked Camembert Pastries with Bacon & Caramelized Onions

Baked Camembert Pastries

Firstly you will need a roll of  ready made puff pastry approximately 300g in size, easily obtainable in most supermarkets in the chilled / fresh section.

Secondly and most importantly a whole Camembert cheese approximately 250g in size.

One small onion and a few slices of bacon to provide the filling. Streaky bacon works best but any sliced bacon will do.

Some sea salt granules to finish.

Plus 1 egg (for egg wash) .

Making the perfect Baked Camembert Pastries with Bacon & Caramelized Onions

Before baking, a little preparation is required. Firstly fry the bacon over a medium heat then chop into pieces and set aside, then caramelize the onions over a medium heat and set aside.

Unroll the ready made puff pastry and cut into a circle, roughly 3 times the diameter of the Camembert.

Slice the Camembert in half horizontally and place in the centre of the puff pastry circle.

Spoon on the caramelized onions and crispy bacon to the lower half of camembert as shown.

Place the top half of the Camembert over the onions and bacon to reform the original portion.

Then with a sharp knife, cut from the outer edge of the Camembert to the outer edge of the puff pastry circle eight times (simply divide the pastry into eighths as if portioning a pizza).

Using a suitably sized glass, equal in size to one of the eighth portions, form a petal shape 8 times.

Then fold each petal of pastry on to the top of the Camembert, sealing each with egg wash as you go.
